Talkin’ about Quakes with Monica!

Friend of the show Monica Wolfson Schwehr (who, for some unknown reason, didn’t change her name to Monica Schwehr-Wolf after getting married) is presenting a USGS Earthquake Science Center talk that will be live streamed today! You can catch “The Relationship Between Seismicity and Fault Structure on Discovery Transform Fault, East Pacific Rise” at 10:30 AM PST (1:30 EST). Break a leg, Monica! (that works for streaming science talks, right?)

  1. Monica says:

    Hey! Thanks for the shout-out!

I’ve given a couple informal talks before, but the USGS talk was my first formal one. They mic you up, and you have to stand on a podium in front of 4 flags (‘Merica!) while presenting on a screen bigger than my first apartment.

The talk will be available to watch online tomorrow:

It will also be available on iTunes for a couple months (https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/usgs-earthquake-science-center/id413770595)

Oh, and just FYI, I was totally down with changing my last name to Schwehrwolf. Kurt and i are going to London for next month for a few days, and we could have been:

    AMERICAN SCHWEHRWOLVES IN LONDON!

but alas, we’ll just be Schwehrs (I only hyphenate when I give talks or publish papers, since I also have stuff published under my maiden name).
