So, a couple of weeks ago this iPad came across my desk with a screen busted beyond repair, and even though I’ve seen an iPad “how-to disassemble” before, I thought it would be fun to do a little exploratory surgery. It is an amazingly simple device.
I do not recommend taking your ipad apart as these are devices that are, in my opinion, not designed to be taken apart and repaired. Although I know that it can be done, repairing the most commonly broken, and most expensive piece (the display), makes little sense after you factor in the labor. You’re better off just buying a new one and being a hell of a lot more careful with it. Which is a shame because inside there are 3 gigantic soft cell lithium ion batteries in there that are probably in perfectly good shape. Unfortunately, they are also glued in place. 🙁
