For anyone who plunked hard-earned allowance quarters into the innards of machines at your local arcade, wondered if they just had hit the pinball machine hard enough to trigger the “tilt,” or had the famous Atari blisters at the upper joint of their right thumb (or left thumb for you industrious lefties who managed to convert your joysticks), this weekend has an activity for you!
The Louisville Arcade Expo is happening at the Holiday Inn, 1325 S Hurstbourne Pkwy in Louisville Friday (March 4), 1 p.m. to midnight; Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight, Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pinball, arcade machines and home console games will all be available (and set to “free play,” as I understand it), along with tournaments and all sorts of great geek happenings.
Best of all, there will be that sound – the sound of many arcade machines being played at the same time, providing the background noise of my youth. With any luck, I’ll be able to score an interview with one of the organizers of the event for the podcast. Come on out and support something that, with any luck, will be a regular event.
